Cooking classes are a fun way to learn to cook everything from basic home cooked meals to advanced culinary techniques. There are many great ways to learn to cook, but the best method of all is with hands on cooking classes. This way you get to actually try to make the recipes yourself in a fun and relaxed environment. You can learn new skills, be as messy as you like and create something that (hopefully) tastes great!
Cooking classes are run at most community colleges and specially set up kitchen training centers. They are more informal than a cooking course (such as those taken by future chefs) and the hands on sessions are usually run in a manner similar to the following;
You will be supplied with all your learning materials and recipes that you will need for the class/es.
The instructor will demonstrate the recipe and allow time for you to write down notes or ask any questions that you might have.
You will be supplied with all the ingredients you will need to make the recipe and you will be given access to the kitchen facilities and utensils.
You will be given time to make the recipe and the instructor will be on hand to give you assistance and/or guidance. This may be completed individually or in groups (such as couples cooking classes) and all the quality cooking schools will tell you thin in advance.
You will get to taste your newly cooked dish and share your recipe with others for a taste test. In most cooking classes there are no grades or assessments - just fun!
