After the deal closes, Disney's "most popular current and library primetime series and library feature films" will be added to Hulu, according to a release.
This includes full-length episodes of shows like "Lost", "Grey's Anatomy", "Desperate Housewives", and many more from ABC, ABC Family, ABC Daytime, SOAPnet, classic series from ABC's library, select programs from Disney Channel, library titles from Walt Disney Studios and short-form content including previews, according to a release.
Terms of the deal and the expected closing date were not disclosed in a press release.
Burbank-based Disney (NYSE: DIS) will be given three seats on Hulu's board that will be held by Walt Disney Co. president and CEO Robert A. Iger, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group Anne Sweeney, and executive vice president of corporate strategy, business development and technology Kevin Mayer. All other current directors will remain on Hulu's board, according to a release.
Disney operates the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios theme parks in Orlando; owns ABC television network, 10 broadcast stations and more than 60 radio stations; and produces films through Walt Disney Studios.
